Project Horizon: 1967-Lunar Base Complete
Lunar Base was complete. It had taken nearly five
years to complete in secret. The men he commanded had followed the plans from
NASA without any deviations.
The unique doom that was fitted over the top of the
base was a phenomenon to be hold. Because the Moon had no atmosphere or
weather, the dome created both. Those who would live on the Moon would
experience all four seasons just as those who were on Earth. The only drawback
was the programmer who made the dome was from Montana and that was the weather
he programed into the doom. A simulated sun would also shine.
It had taken more than a year to build the underground
storage facility for water that would used and recycled for rain. Drinking
water would be replenished with each trip to earth although there was a separate
water plant that would be operational in a year. The water plant would work
like those on earth except the water would need to be replenished every for
five years. NASA
The best part of being under the structure was the
gravitational pull that would allow the base to operate much like the ones on
Earth. The ambitious project was the length of twelve combined football fields.
The base was now fully functional and all the systems
were online. There was a underground train
and road system along with several neighborhoods. No one would know or feel
like they were on the Moon. Taking a sip of his Sparkling Raspberry Lemonade he
moved to the large window that looked out over the moons surface.
